Green Awards Program

The Green Awards Program recognizes outstanding efforts by Chamber members to enhance the environmental performance of their organization.  The award recognizes efforts organizations have taken relative to Education and Advocacy, Conscientious Purchasing, Conservation, Green Building, Recycling and Solid-Waste Reduction, Toxic Materials Awareness, Indoor Environmental Quality and Natural Area and Habitat Protection. Also, there is a small business category, a large business category, and a “ripple”¯ category that will recognize those organizations affecting change in others.

The 2010 Environmental Business Awards were given to the following members at the 2011 Annual Dinner.

Snooze.

Snooze is a restaurant with sustainability in mind. They focus on local purchasing and environmentally-friendly practices within their operation. They are able to compost 95% of their waste and have started a communal cardboard bailing program to increase waste diversion.

Green Ride Colorado.

Green Ride Colorado is a locally owned and operated transportation company which provides convenient and affordable shuttle service between Laramie, Cheyenne, Fort Collins and Denver International Airport. Green Ride is built around sustainable practices including responsible driving practices, green maintenance, high efficiency lighting and remote offices.

Fort Collins Habitat For Humanity.

Fort Collins Habitat For Humanity received The Ripple Award. The Ripple Award was established to recognize those organizations affecting change in others. Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity builds safe, decent, and affordable homes in partnership with hard-working families in need. Habitat has adopted a Green Build philosophy resulting in the construction of LEED certified homes. Also, their recycling efforts for the community through ReStore, one of the largest reuse stores in the area, have diverted thousands of pounds of waste from the landfill each year.

The award criteria is designed and managed by the Chamber Enviornmental Committee and the application for the award is made available in November of each year. 

Previous award winners include:  Columbine Health Systems, United Way of Larimer County, Platte River Power Authority, Porter Industries, Front Range Community College, Alliance Construction Solutions, Colorado State University, New Belgium Brewery Company, O'Dell Brewing Company, Trinity Lutheran Church, Land Images, Drahota, BHA Design, Fine Print Imaging, Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, Poudre Valley Hospital, Gen Green LLC, RB+B Architects, Trees, Water and People, In-Situ, Inc., Avago Technologies and the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association.
