Published Tuesday, June 14, 2011 5:00 am

The second Leadership Northern Colorado class will soon complete their six month program and the public is invited to celebrate their accomplishments and to learn more about regionalism at an event, LNC:  Regionalism and Northern Colorado, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on June 27 at Austin's Homestead at Pelican Lakes, 1600 Pelican Lakes Drive, Windsor.

The event, which is open to the public, will raise funds to provide scholarships to future class participants.  Registration is $15 and available at http://bit.ly/LNC2011Event.  Registration includes appetizers, drinks and a special presentation by regionalism expert Ted Abernathy.  Abernathy is Executive Director of the Southern Growth Policy Board, a 39-year old public policy think tank that provides economic development research and advice for 13 Southern states. Southern Growth specializes in the areas of technology and innovation, globalization, talent, civic engagement, alternative energy, and leadership.

“This is a perfect opportunity for community members to learn more about regionalism,”¯ said Fort Collins Area Chamber Executive Vice President and LNC facilitator Ann Hutchison.  “Ted started a very interesting conversation when he was here in January and we hope people will continue to join with us in understanding the idea of regionalism.”¯

Leadership Northern Colorado, a joint initiative of the Fort Collins, Greeley and Loveland chambers of commerce, the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado and the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County, is designed to build human capacity and to identify, define and address the issues facing the Northern Colorado region.

The Leadership Northern Colorado program will end June 28 with a final class session and graduation by the 31 participants. The class ran from January through June 2011.
