Alzheimer's Association Announces Walk to End Alzheimer's
Published Monday, August 22, 2011 5:00 am

This is a pledge event and every person who walks is asked to make a personal contribution and ask family, friends and co-workers for support by making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. Prizes for fundraising include T-shirts, purple tumblers with the signature Alzheimer's Walk logo and other items. Participants raising $100 or more will receive the tumbler and T-shirt.

“While we know we cannot change the course of Alzheimer's for the estimated 5.3 million Americans living with this disease, by helping fund increased investments in Alzheimer's research, we will change the course of Alzheimer's disease for those affected today and those who will be impacted tomorrow,”¯ stated Linda Mitchell president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado.

“It's going to be a very special day. We will have refreshments and entertainment for children in the Kid's Activity area. “This year participants fulfill their promise to remember, to honor, to care and to fight Alzheimer's disease through a Promise Garden. Promise Flowers in blue represent those who have the disease, yellow for those supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer's, purple in honor of someone who has died of the disease and orange for those who support the cause. Participants will have an opportunity to write a personal message on their promise flower which will be placed in the Promise Garden at the WALK. All those attending and raising funds at our WALKs throughout Colorado truly provide hope for a future without this devastating disease.”¯

To sign up individually or as a team, go to alz.org/co and set up a personal team WALK page. Participants can ask friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to donate in person or by sending a link ask people from across the country to support their WALK team.
