Fort Collins, CO, August 23, 2011: As evidenced by the recently released Multifamily Housing Vacancy and Rental report put out by the Colorado Division of Housing, Fort Collins is in great need of one thing: apartments. With vacancy rates at an all-time low, housing experts are calling for new units to ease the apartment shortage.
Even prior to the height of the shortage, Brinkman Construction recognized the importance of additional product and, to date, has led the charge in delivering new units to the market. In the past year, Brinkman has completed or started construction on four different apartment projects throughout Fort Collins.
Three of these projects target students seeking new housing with an ideal location directly across from the Colorado State University campus. Flats at the Oval (306 West Laurel Street) and the Appleblossom duplex/triplex units (712 West Laurel Street) were completed last August and this August, respectively. By the Fall 2012 school year, Pura Vida Place (518 West Laurel), a 55,000 SF, 52-unit complex, will also be ready for students to occupy. Throughout construction of these projects, Brinkman has focused on providing products that blend with the University setting while furthering the development of the area that serves as the core neighborhood bordering CSU.
In July, Brinkman broke ground on what are to be the premier Old Town residences for active professionals. The modern apartments of Mason Street Flats, located at the northwest corner of Maple Street and Mason Street, will offer a lifestyle Fort Collins has yet to see that connects the livelihood of downtown amenities with Colorado's outdoor and natural activities. This four-story, 30 unit complex is scheduled for completion in April 2012.
“We are committed to the positive development of Fort Collins. We see great value in providing for-rent housing options to students and professionals, alike, and are dedicated to constructing this product in a way that adds to the overall landscape of the community,” said Paul Brinkman, president of Brinkman Construction.
