Staff from the Colorado Division of Insurance will be at the Disaster Recovery Center, Johnson Hall on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins throughout the weekend of June 15-17.
Insurance specialists from the Division’s Consumer Affairs Property and Casualty Section will be available to help victims sort through insurance issues and answer questions about how to file insurance claims. Commissioner of Insurance Jim Riesberg also plans to be at the DRC on Saturday afternoon, June 16. After this weekend, Division staff will schedule hours at the DRC as necessary.
Area residents who need assistance with insurance issues and who are unable to come to the DRC can call the Division’s Consumer Affairs Section at 303/894-7490 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
“As residents of the High Park area begin to rebuild, many questions surface about how to work with their insurance companies. Division staff will help answer those questions,” said Commissioner of Insurance Jim Riesberg.
Division staff also assisted those affected by last week’s hail and severe weather. On Wednesday, Division staff traveled to Simla, Colorado, to participate in an Elbert County town hall that focused on the hail and tornado damage in Elbert and El Paso counties.
The Division reminds all Coloradans to take a moment to review their insurance policies, make sure that coverage is adequate to cover all losses; do a home inventory of contents, and for those who live in mountain areas, establish a “defensible perimeter” around their homes to assist firefighters should wildfires strike.
