Shaw & Associates, CPA, PC-Colorado DORA Consumers Scam
Published Monday, June 11, 2012

The Division of Insurance from the Department of Regulatory Agencies has issued a warning concerning a possible scam that is targeting Colorado consumers. A representative from the "Colorado Insurance Commission" claims that the state has sent a refund check for $399 to the consumer, but the check was returned by the post office. The representative then asks for bank information to be able to direct deposit the amount to the consumer's bank account.

Please be cognizant that the "Colorado Insurance Commission" does not exist and the Division of Insurance will never ask for banking information. If you think you may have been a victim of a scam, please contact your local law enforcement.

If you  have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact Cassy at cassy@kevinshawcpa.com.
